Welcome to the "Top of Mind" issue of 'Petite Elite'

Hi everyone, welcome to the May issue of Petite Elite. This month I wanted to remind you all about something that may seem obvious, but which is often overlooked in our busy working lives; staying 'top of mind' with your clients.

Whatever type of business you are in, it's imperative that you always spend time keeping your brand, product or service 'TOP OF MIND' with your client base. For example, if you are in the landscaping business, you want your contacts to think of you FIRST when they want to design a new water-wise garden. It takes commitment to stay in touch, but being 'TOP OF MIND" with your client base is an enviable position to hold and it can provide you with great opportunities for business growth.

So, read on for some simple and practical ways that you can reach and maintain that pole positon with your client base. You will be amazed at how easy it can be. I hope this newsletter sparks some creative ideas of your own. It's followed by 7 great copywriting tips for developing marketing materials. I hope it's useful!

PS: Thanks to all of you who passed on such great positive feedback about our first issue of 'Petite Elite'. We really appreciate it! Keep it coming!

5 practical ways to stay 'top of mind' with your client base

TIP 1: KEEP IN CONTACT - MAKE IT RELEVANT

I know I am not alone in thinking I get too many subscription emails these days - trying to stay on top of them all is a challenge, even if they are full of useful information. I tend to filter through my emails and pay attention only to the ones which seem to be most relevant at the time. The others I might file away for a rainy day, but often that day never comes and I delete them en masse during my monthly email archive / clean up session. The message here is keep in touch and keep it regular, but keep it brief and and keep it relevant.

TIP 2: FORWARD YOUR CLIENTS USEFUL INFORMATION FROM TIME TO TIME

Business is all about building relationships, and a simple way to build a business relationship these days is via email. For example, if you see a great website, or a useful article that reminds you of one of your clients, forward it on with a short message such as, "this website made me think about that issue you said were having...maybe this information could help you...". Whether your message is business-related or not I'm sure your client will be pleased to know that you are thinking of them.

TIP 3: ENTER A CHARITY EVENT

...and ask for some support! Enter an event to raise money for a charity, forward the link to your client base and ask for sponsorship and support for your preferred charity, or ask them to participate with you. Even if they choose not to support or participate in your event, it will give your clients a bit more of an insight into your values and personality.

TIP 4: CREATE A NEWSLETTER

Like this newsletter! Spend some time every month writing about issues that may impact your client base. If you keep abreast of what is happening in your industry, you can use the newsletter to update your clients on new products and other topics that they may be interested in knowing. Again though, don't send a newsletter for the sake of it, make sure you have something relevant and worthwhile to share. And if you need a hand with writing it, I may know someone who could help you with that...

TIP 5: GIVE A BRANDED GIFT

There are so many promotional gifts that you can have branded with your logo which make great gifts for clients. There are plenty of companies which offer this branding service and there is an endless variety of products to choose from. Try to make the gift relevant to your business; for example, a landscaping business may have a mousepad with a lawn design branded with their logo and tag line. Or a tennis coach may give away a 'tennis ball' stress ball with their own logo and tag line printed onto it.

There are so many simple and practical ways that you can stay on top of your clients' list when they need the type of support you can offer, and this was just a very small sample. I hope these ideas inspire you to try something innovative that improves your standing in the minds of your current and potential clients.
